The hanging thyme Sambesi has a wonderful lemon fragrant and is used for spicy meat dishes and vegetable stuffings. Whole shoots are cooked but removed shortly after cooking time. For salad dressings, single petals or entire flowers can be used. Besides its use in the cuisine, golden thyme, which is rich in thymol, is also traditionally used in aromatherapies against respiratory ailments.
