Sweet potatoes are all the rage

The Erato® Vineland series gives you the opportunity to not only grow sweet potatoes in northern latitudes, but also to harvest them in abundance. Erato® Vineland was specially developed for cultivation in cooler climates. The tubers are very stable and extremely resistant to cracking, meeting the highest standards for local production.

Volmary is the exclusive distributor in Europe for young plants from the Erato® Vineland series.

'Erato® Deep Orange'

  • Orange sweet potato with elongated tubers
  • Soft orange inside, orange-red outside, partly reddish

'Erato® Vineland Early Orange'

  • Early, very high-yielding variety for light soils, also test later planting weeks
  • Orange inside, red outside
  • Very uniform and comparatively firm tubers
  • For long storage, curing for 5-7 days longer than later varieties is recommended

  • High-yielding, uniform variety
  • Comparatively resistant to bursting

Cultural tips Sweet potatoes

  • Planting time is at the end of May after the late frosts
  • Young plants should be planted deep
  • The cultivation period lasts 90–120 days
  • 35,000–40,000 plants per hectare
  • No more than approx. 80 kg N; too much nitrogen in the soil reduces tuber growth

Cultivation phases

  • Initial phase (days 1 - 35)
    rapid root mass development, hardly any foliage development, formation of storage roots
  • Middle phase (approx. days 35 - 80)
    rapid shoot growth, foliage development; between 50 and 80 days
  • Final phase (approx. days 80 - 120)
